Algoism

Algorithms as a Hypernormalised Dispositif

Something governs us without revealing itself. Everyone uses it. No one understands it. It is neither clearly good nor clearly bad – but it is there. Algorithms are a phantom of our times: they structure spaces, influence decisions, reproduce biases – and remain invisible. This audio installation explores algocracy as a hypernormalised dispositif. Multi-channel speakers create a polyphony: voices about, against and through algorithms interweave in an audible representation of the invisible.
