Where at the ZHdK can you be found?
I move between different disciplines and roles, so you can find me in many different areas of the Toni-Areal from the first basement floor to the roof terrace: at the «Leihs»-lending service, when equipment is needed for exhibitions, events or film shootings; at the Department Design’s office on the fourth floor in my role as quality assurance officer of the department; on the sixth floor, where I contribute to developing projects for the artists-in-labs program at the Department of Cultural Analysis - this includes planning residencies, co-curating exhibitions or preparing content in the form of text or video; or, I may be on the roof terrace, catching some fresh air and a few rays of sunshine. My favourite places though are the library and the cinema, but unfortunately you won’t find me there all that often.
What motivates you?
My enthusiasm for artistic topics, processes and works, especially in design, film, theatre and literature. My eclectic interest in the world and its manifold interpretations. My desire for experiences beyond my immediate horizon, which international projects enable me to have: getting to know new people and places, bringing something of your own and exposing yourself to the perspectives of others, finding out where you have things in common and where you don’t. The Toni-Areal as a place where ideas sparkle, collide and blend together.
With whom would you like to switch roles for half a year?
I would like to work exclusively outdoors for a few weeks each year, doing something that stimulates all the senses, which are in danger of becoming stunted in the office. Experiencing the weather, times of day, the smell of the earth, rocks and trees. Working together with others to create something that interacts with the environment but in a respectful way – such as building dry walls, for example. They are based on techniques going back thousands of years, and to complete them successfully, skill, imagination and strength are required in equal measure.
