ZHdK designers at this year’s Design Biennale Zurich
The Design Biennale Zürich will take place again in the Old Botanical Garden (ZH). From 1 to 19 September, visitors can look forward to an exhibition on the theme of SHIFT, consisting of 15 installations created especially for the event by designers from Switzerland and abroad.
This year’s designers include ZHdK Game Design graduates Léa Coquoz and Manuel Wirth with their game “UNCURTAINTY”. Their interactive installation, which began as a semester project in Game Design, connects the players with the virtual world in an innovative way. Two people listen to different stories that encourage them to interact with a fabric hanging between them. Through their actions, they influence each other’s experiences, with the context of the story leading to multiple interpretations of the actions.
Also represented is industrial design lecturer Fiona Knecht with her textile design studio Fiona K. Her project “Stereoscopic Dream” explores spatial vision. With the help of analogue 3D glasses, reality and illustration merge into a fantastic world. Previously unknown elements appear before the eyes of the visitors, while hand-painted creatures fly through the old botanical garden. By the way, you can find out more about Fiona K at our Design Market.
