The “Obru” bird nesting boxes featured in Hochparterre magazine
In an interview in Hochparterre magazine, industrial design alumna Agnes Eklund talks about her diploma project “Obru”, which she developed in close cooperation with the nature conservation organization “Naturnetz”.
“Obru” uses concrete bridges as nesting aids for birds and thus contributes to the promotion of biodiversity in an innovative way. The project combines functionality and storytelling. In addition to the bird nesting boxes, Agnes also developed an accompanying information campaign. “Obru” is a testament to a forward-thinking design perspective. With her work, Agnes Eklund leaves behind the human-centred perspective on urban space and formulates an urgent plea for the coexistence of humans and animals with her nesting aid.
The project convinced the jury of the Swiss Design Association (SDA). Agnes Eklund was presented with this year's SDA-Award for “Obru” at the graduation ceremony.
