Reto Togni studied industrial design at ZHdK and is now a postdoctoral researcher at ETH Zurich. In this interview, he talks about his relocation from Zurich to London, his research into a manual wheelchair steering system and working at the Design Technology Lab.

Industrial design alumnus Reto Togni was speaking to Léa Ermuth.

I meet Reto Togni on the rooftop terrace of the Toni Campus in early April. We sit down at one of the tables between cherry blossoms and budding flowers. When I ask him whether he sees himself as an artist among what are mostly scientists at ETH, he laughs cheerfully and shakes his head. Obviously, some colleagues consider his methods and innovative research approach artistic, but he sees himself as a designer and scientist. During our conversation, Togni discusses the various stages of his career and how he keeps feeling the pull of ZHdK.
